About Kelly

I have always loved makeup. As a child, if there was an occasion that involved wearing a costume, you can bet I found a way to be a princess or a gypsy, because that meant wearing makeup! As a teenager, I practiced my makeup artistry skills on my very patient friends. In college, I wore false eyelashes before it was cool and taught my roommates how to apply and wear them, too!

I grew up close to Charleston in Mt. Pleasant, SC, and graduated from Newberry College with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education: Leisure Services. When my husband Joe and I became engaged in 1997, the love of makeup artistry found its way into my professional life when I started working for Belk as a Lancome beauty advisor. After working at the counter over a year, Lancome hired me to work directly for them as their Regional Makeup Artist for all of the Charleston stores, a position held for three and a half years. This position allowed me to work as the featured makeup artist for special events, help women with wedding day bridal makeup, as well as train Lancome beauty advisors on makeup artistry and product knowlege. I would also do some occasional freelance wedding work on the side.

A friend prompted me to create Charleston On-Site Makeup in 2006, when she hired me as a makeup artist for her sister's wedding. My friend saw how much I enjoyed it, and said, "you should start a business doing this". I am so pleased that it enables me to do what I love, working directly with women in a creative art form, helping women feel great about themselves and totally confident on their most special and important day. I have also had the wonderful opportunity to work in other venues, such as commercial television and corporate makeup artistry, as well as doing a little bit of fashion/print modeling and commercial television work myself. However, I prefer to be the artist, not the model, anyday!!

To me, makeup is not about transforming yourself into a different person, it's about enhancing the God-given natural beauty that is inherent in every woman. I can't imagine doing anything else!

Joe and I have two sons, Joshua and Matthew, and reside in Mt. Pleasant with our maltese/toy poodle named Angel, and our fluffy gray cat named Brilla.
